Violin Rules

1) The competition, is open to strings players (violin,viola,cello,double bass) of all nationality with NO AGE LIMIT.
The video and all documents must be sent only by e-mail no later then by midnight of the 1th October 2020 to the following e-mail address:
specifying: “Labia Prize 2022 strings”
The competition has an ELIMINATORY and FINAL round.
The ELIMINATORY round, starts on July 2th 2020 and ends on October 1th 2020 and consists on the examination of videos and CV.
The FINAL round open to three candidaters, will take place in Malcesine on October 17th. 2020
Repertoir: There is no limit in the choice of the repertoire except that the piece must be originally intended to be performed without the use of amplification or the accompaniment of electronic devices and/or instruments.
Only written music is allowed, NO improvisation (except for cadenzas, ornaments and basso continuo)
Video details: the videos aim is to illustrate to the jury the candidate’s skills and technique and will be analyzed together with the CV’s in order to have the most accurate opinion on candidate’s abilities;
For the eliminatory phase the candidates must attach links to one video of a performance from any historical period;
For the Final phase the three selected candidates have to play another piece different form the one sent before.
Video must have the following features:
Video has to be from 2 to 15 minutes;
Videos must be played in streaming mode (videos don’t have to be downloaded) and recorded also with a smartphone;
Videos can be private or public as long as they can be seen by the entire jury without any restrictions;
No specific streaming platform is required, any of the most common are permitted (for example Youtube, Vimeo, Dailymotion, Youku etc.) however the video should be played by an ordinary computer running Windows or Mac system.

Participation in the competition is subject to the payment – by bank transfer- of a registration fee (non refundable):

A) PUPIL € 15,00

The category is open to any acoustic instrument, with or without accompaniment;
Player must be born after January the 1st 2000

B) YOUNG € 25,00

The category is open to any acoustic instrument, with or without accompaniment;
Player must be born after January the 1st 1980

C) SENIOR € 35,00

The category is open to any acoustic instrument, with or without accompaniment;
Player must be born before January the 1st 1980

The documents to apply for the competition must be sent via e-mail within the terms indicated in the rule 2. They must included:
1 Application form in PDF or JPG format fully filled and signed. (Application can be downloaded in this website)
2 Video
3 Copy of a valid identity document or passport in PDF or JPG format
4 Curriculum Vitae in PDF format
5 Proof of the payment of the application fee for the competition
The Jury will be chaired by Maestro Manuela Lucchi, niece of Vinicio Callegaro and made up of renowed musicians and artistic directors at the international level.
The Jury’s decisions are final and unappealable. It reserves the right not to award the prize if none of the performance is considered worthy.
The three winners will receive:
1° awarded: $……….. money prize, official Diploma and one concert
2° awarded: One concert and official Diploma
3° awarded: Official Diploma
Concurrently with the publication of the results on the website, the strings players admitted to the final round, will be notified by email within 5th October 2020
The winners agrees to the live performance recording (television, radio and audio) and to its posting on websites, without any extra cost to the Associazione I Solisti Laudensi and Iberclassica.
In accordance with article 13 of the GDPR 2016/679 (E.U. General Data Protection Regulation) we inform you that personal data provided by participants will be used solely for the purposes of the competition.

Participation in the “Labia Prize 2022” implies the unconditional acceptance by the participant of all the rules established by the competition announcement.
The organisation reserves the right to change due dates and regulations at any time by giving anyway communication on the website
In the event of claims or dispute the only legal valid document is the present notice of competition in english, composed of 10 rules. The Court of Verona will have exclusive competence.
