MARIA LABIA PRIZE – SINGERS SECTION

REGULATIONS

1) The competition dedicated to Maria Labia is open to singers of all nationalities with NO AGE LIMIT.


2) ENTRIES DEADLINE:
Documents must be sent only by e-mail no later than midnight on the 12h October 2023 to the following e-mail address:
associazioneofb@gmail.com
specifying: “Labia Prize 2023”.

3) DETAILS OF THE COMPETITION:
The competition consists of two rounds:

The first is an ELIMINATION round and will take place in the main hall of the Captain’s Palace in Malcesine on 14th October 2023.
The second and FINAL round will also take place, at the Captain’s Palace, on the 15th October 2023.
Repertoire:

Candidates are required to prepare 3 operatic arias, two of which are to be sung during the elimination round. The first is own choice whilst the second will be selected by the adjudicating panel, from the arias presented.

The arias to be performed in the final will also be chosen by the panel.

There is no limit to the choice of repertoire, however, all pieces must sung in the original language and key, without the use of amplification or the accompaniment of electronic devices and/or instruments.
Only written music is allowed, NO improvisation (except for cadenzas and ornaments).

The association has an official accompanist available to you without any added cost.

4) ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
Entrance to the competition is subject to the payment – by bank transfer- of a registration fee (non refundable) of € 75,00.

5) HOW TO APPLY:
The documents to apply for the competition must be sent via e-mail within the terms indicated above (See number 2)

They must included:
1 Application form in PDF or JPG format fully filled in and signed. (The application can be downloaded from this website)
2 Copy of a valid identity document or passport in PDF or JPG format
3 Curriculum Vitae in PDF format
4 Proof of payment of the registration fee for the competition

6) ADJUDICATING PANEL

Ida Maria Turri – mezzosoprano – President of the Jury

Emanuele Gamba – Artistic director of the Teatro Goldoni in Livorno. Director and professor at the Conservatoire in Cosenza

Fulvio Massa – Baritone and voice teacher

Marino Nicolini – Pianist and professor at the Conservatoire in Parma

Massimo Salotti – pianist and Director of “Scuola Sinfonia” – Lucca

Stefano Bellato – Pianist and President of “Circolo degli artisti” in Venice


The Jury’s decision is final. It reserves the right not to award and prize if none of the performances are considered worthy.

7) AWARDS
The three winners will receive:


1st prize – €1000,00, 1 concert in our 2024 concert season and an official diploma (the prize money will be paid in two segments – 60% on the day of the final with the remaining 40% being paid after the concert).

Possible, paid participation, as principal, in a concert performance of Cavalleria Rusticana by Mascagni.

Possible participation in a paid concert in Venice in 2024 at the “Circolo degli Artisti” in the Prigioni Palace.


2nd prize – €500,00, 1 concert in our 2023 concert season and official Diploma (the prize money will be paid in two segments – 60% on the day of the final with the remaining 40% being paid after the concert)

Possible, paid participation, as principal, in a concert performance of Cavalleria Rusticana by Mascagni.


3rd prize – €250,00, 1 concert and official Diploma (the prize money will be paid, in full, on the day of the final)

Possible, paid participation, as principal, in a concert performance of, Cavalleria Rusticana by Mascagni.


Concurrently with the publication of the results on the website, the singers admitted to the final round, will be notified on the evening of the 14th October 2023.

The adjudicating panel reserves the right to recommend any participating candidate for further professional engagements.


8) GENERAL CONDITIONS AND PRIVACY POLICY
The candidates agree to the recording of their performances (television, radio, etc.) and to their eventual posting on websites, without any extra cost to the Associazione I Solisti Laudensi and Iberclassica.
In accordance with article 13 of the GDPR 2016/679 (E.U. General Data Protection Regulation) we inform you that personal data provided by participants will be used solely for the purposes of the competition.

9) ACCEPTANCE
Participation in the “Labia Prize 2023” implies the unconditional acceptance by the participants of all the rules established by the competition announcement.


10) LEGAL NOTICE
The organisation reserves the right to change due dates and regulations at any time by giving communication on the website www.labia-prize.com.
In the event of claims or dispute the only legal valid document is the present notice of competition in english, composed of 10 rules. The Court of Verona will have exclusive competence.
